Tranquility, Cleanliness and Affordability, add them up to get CampsBay Glen!
Well, we landed in Cape Town on the worst day possible.

It was raining and very windy, thick layers of my jacket were finding it difficult to keep out the cold! But the moment Mark stepped in to meet us, it was warmth all around! :-)
The property has got a pool and lovely little stream passing through it. The sound of water flowing, is the best background music while you sleep.

We stayed in Studio C, which has a cozy living room, clean toilets & shower. The bedroom has a heater and also electric blankets, if you like us land on a cold day!
The living room doubles up as a kitchenette, with microwave, kettle, pot and pans, hot plate at you disposal if you choose to use them. But if you are like us and on holidays you do not feel like cooking, then sweat not, you have plenty of restaurants on the Victoria Road with (nearly) every cuisine that you might crave for!
The Studio also has a deck overlooking the ocean and the property's pool. Unfortunately it being cold we could not use the deck, but on a warm evening would be lovely to sit there and have your evening tea.
Overall CampsBay Glen is a very affordable accommodation with everything that you would need in a self catering place, close proximity to prime tourist spots and restaurants is an added plus. Mark and his team are always there to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
PS: Mark has excellent knowledge about the places near Cape Town to visit, with a specialization for the "Garden Route".

Make the effort to contact mark at campsbayglen if you dont know Cape Town or want to plan a deeper trip - He is extremely well travelled in South africa

"Lovely piece of relaxing rainforest"
TRIPADVISOR camps bay travel in south Africa - Self catering accommodation in Camps Bay - Hotels near beach

I stayed 5 nights in Camps Bay Glen, Studio B. The guidance, accessibility and hospitality of Mark is excellent. Always back quickly with an answer via sms / email. The peculiarity of CBG is to me the location and design. Firstly, the house is located near the promenade / beach of Camps Bay itself, and 10 minutes drive from Cape Town Long Street (down town). However, the design of the house and particularly the garden does think differently. You find yourself literally in a rainforest. Beautiful plants and terraces, seating areas and a creek that meanders through the garden. I ask this nature very much appreciated and have therefore enjoyed it. It was too cold for the pool, but it looked fine. Furthermore, the unit neatly cleaned every day. Shower is always warm, plenty of water. Even though there are other families staying in other apartments, my privacy has never once been at stake. I think that CBG is particularly suitable for the traveller who wants to sit or centrally but also eagerly wants to retire and wants to enjoy the peace and quiet of camps bay glen exhale. Price / quality seems very definitely in order, especially when multiple persons are involved. A must!

A Great article on Life in Camps Bay!

Camps Bay and Bakoven are two really cool places in cape town,- A total buzz and with tons of stuff going on. In Summer its a kind of social scene and everything is just cooking! IN Winter - that's the time...well for creative people. Creativity in cape town is Autumn and winter. the masses go and the beaches and table mountain is misty and haunting.. Writing and photography and mellow little social things happening .. Here is a good angle on camps bay cape town! Accommodation and places to stay are easy to find in camps bay and bakoven and all over cape town when it MELLOWS OUT! This is written by a lover of Summer in cape town camps bay!

Bay of plenty should not be kept at bay
Trendy restaurants, bars, views and ocean make Camps Bay the number 1 place to stay!  South Africa’s glamorous and extremely popular beach in Cape Town.Camps Bay needs no introduction! There's something about the liquid gold sunsets, white sand and gin-clear water, the backdrop of the Twelve Apostles and the promise of good times in the funky, trendy restaurants and bars that line Victoria Road behind the beach that has always ensured Camps Bay is a Cape Town classic. It is a brilliant beach at which to base yourselves during summer. (And the number of people that visit the beach during summer is testament to this.)
Still, as popular as it is, Camps Bay does hold plenty of secrets and there is more to the beach than meets the eye.

Sunset camps bay               Some camps bay Beach bums

In spring and summer, for example, dolphins and whales make an appearance more often than you might expect.
Sometimes - especially in the early morning - small pods of dolphins swim within a few meters of the shoreline.

One of the darker dates in Camps Bay's history was on December 27,1794, when the Portuguese slaving ship Sao Josene, was wrecked here.

The ship was carrying 500 Mozambican slaves on board and of these, according to Malcolm Turner in his book Shipwrecks & Salvage in South Africa, 200 of them drowned.
For surfers, Glen Beach, which is tucked away in the small cove on the northern end of Camps Bay, serves up world class
waves when the sandbanks have shifted into position (usually during summer).

However, this isn't really one of the area's secrets any more, as the place can get crowded with wave-hungry surfers. It is advisable to surf during off-peak times, paddle out with a smile on your face and be on your best surfing behaviour. For bathers, there is a section of beach that is patrolled by lifeguards during the festive season. If you're keener on a quiet, early morning dip before everyone else arrives, the Bakoven end of the beach is mostly sheltered from wave action. There is also a huge and safe tidal pool below the grassy embankments at the southern end of the bay.
Best time to go? Well, crowds at a beach can be a blessing or a curse. If you enjoy a beach packed with people (and you will enjoy Camps Bay), then a windless summer day from mid-morning until late afternoon is perfect. For a quieter, more intimate experience with the Camps Bay shoreline, as early as possible is best - until beachgoers start to arrive at about 10am.

The owner of the house (Mark) is a very nice guy. He did everything for us to feel comfortable and his service was great. He gave us a lot of hints what we can and should do in cape town - not just the ordinary tourist stuff, but also cool activities only insider know. So if you are looking for a crazy adventure = ask Mark ;-)   To summarize, we had a great time in Camps bay and felt very comfortable due to the unique style of the house and Marks and Bulelwa's service.    Camps Bay Was Magical

Left on 06/21/2012 for a stay in June 2012   While visiting Cape Town for my daughter's graduation, we rented Studio a at Campsbayglen for several nights. The accommodation was amazing. We felt we were living in a tree house overlooking stunning Camps Bay. We especially liked the privacy the foliage and flowers around the property provided. We would have loved to use the pool had we been there in summer--next trip. The hammocks and beautiful hand-made deck furniture gave it a special touch. The flat was comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room for 8, interesting artwork and breathtaking views throughout. We enjoyed meals with our friends each evening with a warm fire in the indoor fireplace. The winter nights are quite cool in Cape Town. You won't be disappointed with this accommodation. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
